7/5/2010 Two House Fires - Lincoln Way East - Guilford Township - Franklin County

On July 5th Franklin County dispatched start the day around 1:30 A.M. with a working house fire Box 7-6 at 7970 Lincoln Way East.  This brought Tanker 52 to the scene and a tanker shuttle was established.  While Tanker 52 was on the 7-6 box moving  water. Franklin County dispatched another house fire around 3 A.M. at 4606 Coontown Road.  With units from Chambersburg and surrounding areas on two different fires.  Engine 152 was dispatched to Station 4 for a transfer.  Just after backing in at station 4, the tones hit sending Engine 152 and other units to 465 Lincoln Way West for a dwelling fire with possible entrapment.  Just a few blocks from station 4, Engine 152 arrived on scene quick.  Engine 152 insured everyone was out of the building.  The engine crew hit the plug in front of the house, advanced an attack line to the second floor, ladder the building and set up lighting.  The crew put a quick knock on the fire and Engine Co. 13 arrived to advance the back-up line for final extinguishment.  Lt. 7/6/2010 Before and After Cafe Fire 334 E. King St. Shippensburg

On Tuesday July 6th around 1715 hours Cumberland County dispatched SFD units to a reported deck fire at the Before & After Cafe, 334 E. King St.  E-152 arrived to find smoke coming from a basement window.  E-152 relayed to Chief 4 that there was a basement fire and initiated an aggressive attack.  Personnel from E-152 & E-252 found a fire burning in the ceiling and quickly extinguished the fire.  Truck 53 did a great job with a difficult ventilation scenario and assisted with lighting and overhaul.  An investigation yielded the cause of the fire to have been electrical.  TJ

Vigilant Queen wins Shippensburg Fair Queen

Katelyn Carson, a 2010 graduate of Shippensburg High School and daughter of Brad and Jackie Carson was selected the 2010 Shippensburg Fair Queen. Katelyn was sponsored by the Vigilant Hose Company. Congratulations, Katie!
